Eighteenth in the table and looking somewhat resigned to a return to Ligue 2 BKT as recently as Round 12, Brest have put together an extraordinary run in Ligue 1 Uber Eats in recent weeks, claiming the scalps of AS Monaco, RC Lens and, most recently, Olympique de Marseille on the way to a six-match winning run.

Pirates' plunder

It is les Pirates' best-ever such record in the French top-flight, and the longest winning run across the division currently. Faivre grabbed a team-high eighth goal of the campaign against OM, before Franck Honorat sealed an impressive 2-1 win at the Orange Vélodrome.

Now in 10th on 24 points, Brest could reach the heady heights of fourth if they can beat Montpellier and other result go their way. Coach Michel Der Zakarian - who last season led La Paillade to a ninth-place finish - is taking nothing for granted, though.

"I hope our run will continue," he said. "We have to keep our feet on the ground and work well, as we're doing now. You have to score more goals than your opponent to win. People say that we're a defensive team, and perhaps that's right, but we've scored in every game this season!

Brest are without suspended defender Brendan Chardonnet, so Lilian Brassier could come back into the team to partner Christophe Hérelle in central defence. Sébastien Cibois aside, Der Zakarian has few injury concerns, with Faivre and Honorat set to act as inverted wingers in a 4-4-2 once again.

Bogey team

If any team are unlikely to be unfazed by Brest's form it's Montpellier, however. They begin the day one place and point above their hosts after beating Clermont Foot 63 last Sunday, which was their second consecutive win having lost the previous two before that.

Brest have also never beaten Montpellier in the French top flight, their lone victory in 19 meetings with Saturday's opponents coming in the second tier back in April 2008, when Romain Poyet got the only goal of the game.

Der Zakarian's opposite number Olivier Dall'Oglio will also be up against his former side this weekend, the 57-year-old having steered Brest to safety last term, and he is excited to renew old acquaintances.

Important role

"I'm very happy to be back," he said. "Brest have passionate fans, football's a religion there. As staff, we achieved our goal. The mission was to keep Brest in Ligue 1 and it was job done. I hope I remain a figure in the club's history."

Any such sympathy will be put on hold for now, though, with Dall'Oglio set to name his strongest possible side. Centre-backs Maxime Estève (knock) and Pedro Mendes(torn) LCL remain sidelined, while midfield trio Téji Savanier, Florent Mollet and Jordan Ferri each one booking away from a suspension.

Possible teams

Brest: Bizot; Pierre-Gabriel, Hérelle, Brassier, Duverne; Faivre, Agoumé, Belkebla, Honorat; Le Douaron, Mounié

Montpellier: Omlin; Souquet, Cozza, Sakho, Ristic; Ferri, Chotard; Mollet, Savanier, Mavididi; Wahi
