RC Lens' captain ended the first half of the season on top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats mileage chart. Check out the most athletic performances by French top-flight players so far in 2021-22...
While RC Lens are in tenth place on the ranking of distance covered by Ligue 1 Uber Eats sides in the first half of the 2021-22 season, club captain Seko Fofana tops the list for distance covered by players.
In addition to having set a new personal-best goal tally of five strikes - with half the season still to go - Seko Fofana hasn't spared the horses as he racked up a league-high individual distance of 210 km run in Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches.
Longest distance run in 2021-22, by player:
1. Seko Fofana (RC Lens): 210,9 km
2. Gaëtan Laborde (Stade Rennais): 208,9 km
3. Benjamin Bourigeaud (Stade Rennais): 208,7 km
4. Laurent Abergel (FC Lorient): 206,2 km
5. Jimmy Cabot (Angers SCO): 203,7 km
The captain of the Sang et Or is capitalising on the form that has seen him appear in every one of RC Lens's 19 Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches this season and rack up 1697 minutes of playing time.
In terms of average distance per game, Fofana has surpassed the 11 km mark but isn't among the best placed (9th). In this area, it's Rennes' Flavien Tait (SRFC), the leader in November, remains the benchmark with 15 11+ km performances. The Rennes man has fended off competition from Johan Gastien (CF63), who has notched no fewer than five 13+ km matches.
Top 5 average distance covered per match, by player:
1. Flavien Tait (Stade Rennais): 11.8 km
2. Johan Gastien (Clermont Foot): 11.5 km
3. Laurent Abergel (FC Lorient): 11.45 km
4. Pedro Chirivella (FC Nantes): 11.4 km
5. Jimmy Cabot (Angers SCO): 11.3 km
Kebbal, Gusto with big bursts
As for the players with the best performances in a single match, Ilan Kebbal (Stade de Reims) took the cake against OL on 1 December, when he put 13.96 km on the odometer to outdo Azzedine Ounahi (Angers SCO) a few weeks earlier against OM (13.95 km). Another Reims man completes the podium: Marshall Munetsi, who ran 13.7 km in the victory in Rennes in September. These two have played a big part in Reims' leading the club ranking for total kilometres run in League 1 Uber Eats this season.
So too there is a second Lens player who has been chewing up the kilometres this season: Przemyslaw Frankowski. The Polish international is ranked among the players with the most sprints, coming in at fifth, but still some distance between the Brest duo of Franck Honorat and Romain Faivre.
Top 5 players for sprints:
1. Franck Honorat (SB29): 474
2. Romain Faibre (SB29): 456
3. Ricardo Mangas (Bordeaux): 404
4. Achraf Hakimi (PSG): 396
5. Przemyslaw Frankowski (RC Lens): 391
Speaking of flashes of brilliance, Malo Gusto (OL) made 43 sprints against Reims, a record for a player this season. He is ahead of two other right-footers: Giulian Biancone (ESTAC, 39 sprints against Nice in R10) and Achraf Hakimi (PSG, 38 sprints, also against Nice, in R16).
