Amine Gouiri continues to impress at the start of 2022. Scoring and assisting in the same match for the second time in three games, the young OGC Nice talent once again proved that he is the main man in Le Gym's attack. Already with ten goals to his name, he now has seven assists in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season, enough to climb onto the podium of the official assists chart.

Record broken after just 22 matches

The former Lyon man's precise cross for Khéphren Thuram's opener at Metz on Sunday was his third assist in as many games and continued his impressive rise up the table. He is now third and only two lengths behind the top two. He also took advantage of the opportunity to beat his personal best from last season (six assists in 34 games).

The second-most decisive player in the top flight this season (ten goals and seven assists), behind Kylian Mbappé (ten and nine), Amine Gouiri is flourishing under coach Christophe Galtier. Week after week, he proves that he is a player who can make the difference in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, having already been involved in 35 goals in 64 games since his debut in the elite (22 goals and 13 assists).

Kylian Mbappé takes over

Amine Gouiri may now be just one point behind the two frontrunners, but Kylian Mbappé has responded to the situation, a week after being dethroned by Jonathan Clauss. Against Stade de Reims, PSG's No7 found Danilo Pereira for the fourth and final Parisian goal, after a terrific break down the left.

Thanks to this ninth assist, he takes top spot from RC Lens' full-back, in terms of the number of passes delivered in open play (nine against seven). Like Gouiri, the prodigy from Bondy also broke his single-season record this weekend, which dated back to the 2016-17 Ligue 1 Uber Eats title-winning campaign with AS Monaco (eight assists in 29 games).

The progress of Rémi Oudin (ninth), Lionel Messi (14th) and Benjamin Bourigeaud (15th) should also be noted, as all three reached the five-assist mark in Round 22. Girondins de Bordeaux man Oudin, who helped his club to a 4-3 victory with his first assists double in the top flight, deserves a special mention.
