Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi, who set up Kylian Mbappé to score twice in the 3-1 win over Saint-Etienne, has rocketed to the top of the official Uber Eats Ligue 1 assists chart - alongside Mbappé, who laid on PSG's third goal by Danilo Pereira.

Lionel Messi just can't stop teeing up goals in 2022. When AS Saint-Etienne came calling at the Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 26, the Argentine racked up a fifth consecutive top-flight match with at least one assist. He now sits level with club-mate Kylian Mbappé at the top of the official assists chart on ten.

On Saturday, La Pulga confirmed that ASSE are a side against whom he can really express himself. After his hat-trick in the first match, the Parisian bagged a brace in front of Paris's adoring fans, setting Kylian Mbappé up for two superb goals. In 2022, the PSG No30 has cooked up six assists in five matches - the best total in the five major European leagues. More generally, the Argentina captain has been unstoppable since notching his first assist in Ligue 1 Uber Eats at the end of November (against Saint-Etienne), totalling ten assists in ten matches!

Messi has delivered four of those assists to Mbappé, the highest total for a player to the same teammate in Ligue 1 Uber Eats this season. The duo has exchanged a total of five assists - one from Mbappé to Messi - in the top flight in 2021-22, which is also the best reciprocal best total between two players.

With a stunning outside-of-the-boot cross for Danilo Periera to nod home Pareis's third goal, Kylian Mbappé managed to retain top spot on the official Ligue 1 Uber Eats assists chart thanks to his number of assists in open play (ten compared to seven for Messi). But he is now under pressure from his prestigious partner.

Rennes also stand out

Stade Rennais FC, another well-represented club in this ranking, also shone in Round 26. Les Rouge et Noir now have four players in the top 13: Hamari Traoré (8th), Lovro Majer (9th), Benjamin Bourigeaud (11th) and Gaëtan Laborde (13th). On Friday in Montpellier, it was Traoré and Bourigeaud who were at the top of their game. The right-back bagged two assists to take his season total to six, while midfielder Bopurigeaud reached the same total by finding Majer at the end of the game.
