After picking up a third successive UNFP Trophy for Ligue 1 Uber Eats Player of the Season, out-of-contract PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé declared that he will make an announcement on his future in the coming days.
Speculation over Mbappé's future at PSG has been rife ever since he tried to force a move away from the Parc des Princes last summer, and now that the 2021-22 season is all but over, the out-of-contract superstar's future is more than ever in the spotlight.
Dying to know
The man in question was clearly aware of the levels of interest in his decision. With his contract at PSG coming to term at the end of the current campaign, he will be free to join any club (most likely Real Madrid) on a free transfer despite the club's concerted efforts to sign him to a contract extension.
Although Mbappé was looking to avoid speaking on his future - he felt his words at the 2019 ceremony, also concerning his PSG future, had stolen the limelight from the other winners - he did address it briefly when asked.
"I made the mistake three years ago of taking over the ceremony. This is not the time or the place; I just came to thank everyone," he explained before giving a hint. "I will announce my decision very soon. My decision is all but made. It will be before the gathering of the France team [on May 28], well before."
Needless to say, all eyes will be on the Parc des Princes on Saturday night when Mbappé should be in Paris Saint-Germain's starting line-up against Metz for what could be his last-ever match for the capital club.
