Neymar continued his early-season hot streak for Paris Saint-Germain on a weekend where his nearest challengers all failed to hit the target as Round 4 unearthed some new contenders for the top scorer crown.

Neymar scored from the penalty spot to earn Paris Saint-Germain a point at home to Monaco to continue his tremendous start to the season. He earned his side a penalty 20-minutes from time, then stepped up to convert the spot kick to register his sixth goal in the opening four league games.

The Brazilian was able to extend the lead at the top of the scoring chart over team-mates Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé who both went close during the clash but missed out on adding to their tallies.

New Marseille's forward Alexis Sanchez opened his account for the club with a brace in OM's comfortable 3-0 win at Nice. The Chilean netted twice in the first half including a wonderfully-taken opener to set Igor Tudor's men on their way.

Nuno Tavares scored Marseille's other goal in the victory, shooting low to beat Nice 'keeper Kasper Schmeichel at his near post. Tavares has now scored three times in his opening four games since joining the club on loan from Arsenal.

Montpellier duo Elye Wahi and Valère Germain both hit doubles as Olivier Dall'Oglio's men ran riot on Brest in a 7-0 victory.

Germain's double were his first goals since Montpellier's 4-0 win at Brest last December and the Frenchman will be delighted to once again be amongst the goals.

Summer signing Wahbi Khazri also found the net during the destruction of Brest to register his second goal of the season.

Jonathan Bamba scored his second goal in as many weeks in LOSC's 3-1 win at Ajaccio, helping the 2021 Ligue 1 Uber Eats champions bounce back from the heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last time out.

Next up…

There's no time to rest as Round 5 kicks off on Wednesday evening with players from all 20 clubs vying to add to their goals tallies.

Neymar, Mbappe and Messi take their goal scoring prowess to new-boys Toulouse as champions PSG look to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Lyon and their top scorer Tetê take on Auxerre at the Groupama Stadium and Alexis Sanchez will want to continue his fantastic start for Marseille when they entertain Clermont at the Orange Velodrome.
