Neymar Jr. was replaced by Pablo Sarabia in the starting line-up for Paris Saint-Germain's 3-0 win over FC Nantes on Saturday, a game in which Kylian Mbappé and Lionel Messi combined for two of the three goals.

Nuno Mendes got the other as PSG moved back above Olympique de Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table. Neymar got the final half-hour with the game already won - a humbling experience for a player who has nine goals and six assists at a rate of one every 36 minutes played?

"There's always a risk of upsetting the dressing room if a player doesn't accept a decision," Galtier said. "I'd already discussed it with him on Friday. He'd already gone to Toulouse on Friday [a 3-0 win in which he got the opener] and got a few knocks. I made the decision and he accepted it well."

Neymar is therefore well-rested for PSG as they open their UEFA Champions League Group H account against Juventus on Tuesday. Midfielder Vitinha might not make it, though, after a bad tackle from Fabio with less than half an hour gone at the Stade de la Beaujoire.

"He was the victim of a heavy contact with the kneecap," Galtier continued. "But without torsion or any ligament problem. He is going to take tests. Hopefully it's not too serious and he'll be available for Tuesday's game against Juventus.

"We're doing well, we're scoring goals. We're consistent and the players state of mind is very good. They show a strong desire to be very connected in the field. The Champions League is another level. It'll be a different match for Juve, who I watched closely this afternoon at Fiorentina. We'll have to try hard and stay very compact defensively even if we want to score."

Neymar is expected to return to the starting line-up at the Parc des Princes in midweek. Timothée Pembélé, after his ruptured cruciate ligament, is PSG's only injury absentee.
