It was a great week for Lionel Messi! Three days after his double in Toulouse, the Argentinian genius again struck twice, this time in Nantes. The PSG number 30, who provided the assist for Kylian Mbappé's two goals at La Beaujoire, bagged his fifth and sixth assists of the season. With this total, he overtakes Neymar, his partner at PSG, in the number of assists delivered in open play (six, compared to five for the Brazilian) and settles in the leader's chair of the official Ligue 1 Uber Eats Assists chart.

Messi: 20 Ligue 1 Uber Eats assists and counting...

After making just 32 appearances in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, the diminutive Argentine has already bagged 20 assists. Since the 2006-07 season, only Angel Di Maria (in 31 games) has passed this mark more quickly. More than half of Messi's PSG assists (11 out of 20) have gone to Kylian Mbappé. Messi has once again made an excellent start to the season, already involved in nine goals (three goals and six assists), his fifth-best start to a league season after 2011-12 (13), 2013-14 (11), 2014-15 (11) and 2017-18 (10).

Behind the two Parisians, Rémy Cabella is staying within striking distance. Back in Montpellier on Sunday, the newly signed LOSC playmaker distinguished himself by hitting his second assist double of the season. Now with a total of four, he takes third place from Montpellier's Faitout Maouassa.
