Competition is building behind Lionel Messi and Neymar. The two Parisians are well entrenched in the top two places of the official Assists chart, and a group of four players is forming in their wake. Already present last week with his four assists, Rémy Cabella saw Faitout Maouassa, Dango Ouattara and Caio Henrique catch up with him in Round 7. The Montpellier Hérault SC full-back's four assists in four different matches have stolen third place from Lille, who have slipped back to the foot of the podium.

Dango Ouattara (20), a revelation for FC Lorient at the start of the season, is now in fifth place, just ahead of Caio Henrique, who played an important role in AS Monaco's 2-1 win over OL, setting up both goals - for Benoit Badiashile and Guillermo Maripan - from set-pieces.

Lionel Messi alone at the top

Lionel Messi took sole control of the chart with his seventh assist of the season, against Stade Brestois 29. For the only goal of the match between PSG and the Bretons, the Argentine played Neymar into the box with a perfectly measured chip. It was his 21st assist in 33 games played in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.
