Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has spoken out in praise of vaunted strike partners Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr while speaking to Mexican media on national team duty with Argentina.

It's perhaps the most impressive front three ever assembled, featuring three of the sports biggest names, and senior member Lionel Messi has plenty of good things to say about his talented teammates at Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappé a 'complete player'

"We know each other by heart, we had a great time together at Barça for several seasons and I would have liked even more. And then life allowed us to meet again in Paris. I'm delighted to play with him, to be with him every day," said Messi of his Brazilian teammate Neymar before praising the Boy from Bondy. "Like Kylian, who's a real beast on the pitch, very strong in one-on-one duels, who looks for space, goes very fast and has a great sense of goal. He is a very complete player, as he has already shown, and will be among the very best in the world for years to come."

Eyes on the prize(s)

While there is every chance that Messi could come up against either - or both - of his club accomplices as they vie for football's biggest prize in Qatar from November to December, Messi is also super-aware that they will need to pull in the same direction in order to pull off what PSG's ambitious owners prize most - the Champions League.

"PSG's objective for the last few years, as everyone knows, is to win the Champions League. Last season, the elimination against Real Madrid (in the last 16, 1-0, 1-3) was very hard to digest because we played two big games and it came down to details," recalled the Arngetine. "The current season is atypical, with a World Cup in the middle of the season, but the Champions League remains PSG's main objective. It's a complicated competition to win, the best doesn't always win, and it can come down to very little. We prepare ourselves as well as possible to be able to face all situations and be up to the task."

First season blues: 'It wasn't easy'

So the aim is still high, even though Messi admits that his first season after leaving long-time home Barcelona was not without its challenges.

"For my first season in Paris, it wasn't easy, because I was discovering a new club, a new life with a family, for the first time in my career," Messi declared. "But I remained confident because I knew that this season I would be better adapted, better prepared. With a huge desire to enjoy it, to have fun."

The next chance for Messi and his illustrious strike partners comes as PSG play host to Nice in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 9 action on Saturday 1 October.
