Dimitri Payet is one of a number of players set to come back in for Olympique de Marseille at RC Strasbourg Alsace on Saturday as Igor Tudor's side look to steady the ship domestically before Tuesday's European six-pointer with Tottenham Hotspur.

Marseille had been leaders and champions Paris Saint-Germain's closest pursuers for much of this season, but a recent wobble has seen them drop down to fifth in Ligue 1 Uber Eats.

Igor Tudor's men have lost each of their last three Ligue 1 Uber Eats games - against AC Ajaccio, PSG and most recently RC Lens - by one-goal, and they edged by the same margin against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

OM's fate on both fronts remains in their own hands. They are only four points off RC Lens who now occupy second, and victory over Tottenham next week would see them punch their ticket into the Champions League knock-out stages from Group D.

"They were strong, they created problems but so did we," Tudor said of the Frankfurt game. "We have a final to play in six days, so we don't have to worry too much. It'll be the game of the year. For the fans, it'll be beautiful. We can be proud of how we've played."

Tudor may not want to overthink, but some rotation is to be expected. Payet remains more than talented enough to fire OM past Strasbourg, and he could be joined in the final third by Bamba Dieng who is ineligible for Europe this season but scored in the corresponding fixture last season.

Tudor's hand is forced at the back. Eric Bailly's has a leg injury and Samuel Gigot is suspended, so expect to see Leonardo Balerdi to play at the heart of defence with Sead Kolasinac asked to deputise at left centre-back. Valentin Rongier a booking away from suspension and could be rested.

Strasbourg are teetering precariously above the relegation places with the same number of points (12) as Stade Brestois 29, AJ Auxerre, AC Ajaccio and Angers SCO below them.

Saturday's hosts held Toulouse FC to a 2-2 draw last time out, though, doing well to battle back from 2-0 down to snatch a share of the spoils.

Ludovic Ajorque's recent injury travails haven't helped them, but in Kévin Gameiro and Habib Diallo they have a front two who could catch OM out. Gameiro was on target against Toulouse, as was Lebo Mothiba.

"Marseille are a Champions League club with a very large squad," said Tudor's opposite number Julien Stéphan. "They are two- sometimes three-deep in their positions, with players coming from big European teams like Roma, Porto, Manchester United or Arsenal. They're a big team with great players. We expect a very difficult match."

Defensive midfielder Ibrahima Sissoko could be preferred to the attack-minded Adrien Thomasson but le racing's first XI otherwise picks itself with Nordine Kandil (foot) and Karol Fila (groin) joining Ajorque on the sidelines.

Possible teams

Strasbourg: Sels; Djiku, Nyamsi, Le Marchand; Dagba, Sissoko, Prcic, Bellegarde, Liénard; Gameiro, Diallo

Marseille: Lopez; Mbemba, Balerdi, Kolasinac; Kaboré, Guendouzi, Veretout, Clauss; Under, Payet; Dieng
