Paris Saint-Germain have been drawn against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 in a repeat of the 2020 final.

The draw for the Champions League, Europa League play-offs and Europa Conference League were held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday afternoon and the draws did not disappoint.

PSG face off against Bayern

Paris Saint-Germain will battle it out with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in arguably the tie of the round with February's first leg taking place at the Parc des Princes. The clash means this season's competition will lose one of its big guns at an early stage, so plenty will be at stake over the two legs.

The draw offers a repeat of the 2020 final when Bayern edged out the Parisians 1-0 in Lisbon, courtesy of a goal from former PSG starlet Kingsley Coman.

PSG were able to inflict a degree of revenge on the German giants by knocking them out of the competition on away goals in 2021.Two goals from Kylian Mbappé and another from Marquinhos fired Mauricio Pochettino's side to a 3-2 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern were 1-0 winners in the second leg at the Parc des Princes thanks to former PSG striker Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting but the Ligue 1 Uber Eats side held on to advance to the semi-final.

"I remember talking to the players in the dressing room after the win in Turin, and said it would be Bayern," PSG football advisor Luis Campos told beIN Sports after Monday's draw. "It's a great opportunity for us to continue the great season we're having. Playing against a big club is very motivating. Playing at the Parc and in Munich with the quality that we have, you have to see that very positively. It's a good time to play Bayern, because we feel very good and very confident about the rest of the season. We have time to prepare these two games. It's a chance to show the world what a great coach we have, what a great team we have and the positive football we're playing right now."

Meanwhile, it was a busy day for France's representatives in the Europa League with Nantes, Monaco and Rennes all in the hat for the play-off round where they were matched with a team that dropped out of the Champions League.

Dream tie

Nantes were handed arguably the toughest tie of the French contingent when they were paired with Italian giants Juventus.

The clash will ignite memories of their titanic Champions League quarter-final battle in 1996 when Juventus ran out 4-3 winners over the two legs, on their way to lifting the trophy.

Monaco face the challenge of German side Bayer Leverkusen in a match that will see striker Kevin Volland face his former club and Rennes will do battle with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

All ties will take place on February 16 & 23.

Nice were not involved in Monday's Europa Conference League draw after topping their group. Lucien Favre's men were rewarded with a safe passage into the Round of 16 stage, which will be played in March.
