As a result of knee surgery, Venezuela 'keeper Wuilker Fariñez will not be back in action for RC Lens in Ligue 1 Uber Eats before the end of the 2022-23 season.

Wuilker Fariñez suffered a serious sprain to his left knee with the Venezuelan national team in June and has been forced to undergo another operation, which will put an end to his season.

RC Lens announced the news on Monday, stating that the 24-year-old goalkeeper will undergo additional surgery in January. The 24-year-old, who has played 16 Ligue 1 Uber Eats games for the club since joining in the summer of 2020, injured his left knee during training with his national team, rupturing ligaments and causing neurological damage to his lower limb.

He will be replaced as the club's second-choice 'keeper, behind Brice Samba, by former Valenciennes and Bastia veteran Jean-Louis Leca or 21-year-old prospect Yannick Pandor.
