Morocco's World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi has told Marseille fans they can expect a lot more from him as OM's new midfielder eyes another three points at home to Nice on Sunday (kick-off 8:45pm).

Following his January move from Angers, Ounahi came off the bench to make his Marseille debut and even found the net as OM moved into second place in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table with a 2-0 win at Nantes on Wednesday.

It was only his second appearance since helping his nation became the first African country to reach a FIFA World Cup semi-final, and the 22-year-old has promised there is a lot more to come.

"Physically, I'm not at my best. I had an ankle injury after the World Cup and the transfer window was difficult to handle. I'm not 100% yet, but you saw at Nantes a player that is happy to be here and who slotted into the side with ease," he told the media at his official presentation. "I came off the bench with no stress, to enjoy it, and help the team. When I came on, I felt that there was space and the chance to score. After that, I took a touch, sidestepped one, sidestepped another, goal. It's easy!"

Ounahi is likely to feature from the bench as Marseille look to extend their winning streak at home to Nice to six successive league games, and ensure they finish Round 22 with at worst the five-point gap to leaders Paris Saint-Germain and the one-point advantage over third-placed Lens with which they started it.

"We mustn't think about it. I've already said that often," said OM boss Igor Tudor when asked about his side's title chances as he mulls over whether to give new signing Vitinha his debut. "The fans can dream, but we know that in this league, there's Paris who are able to pay extraordinary sums and then there's the rest."

Nice have been busy in recent months constructing a squad they hope will eventually be able to challenge at the top end of the table. A poor run of form cost Lucien Favre his job, but his replacement as coach, Didier Digard, has made an unbeaten start to his tenure, winning three of four games including the last two by a single Gaëtan Laborde goal.

The former Montpellier forward, who arrived from Rennes last summer, struggled to find his feet on the Côte d'Azur, scoring only twice in his first ten league appearances for his new club, but has struck decisive goals against Lille and — last Wednesday — at Lens in the last two matches.

"I'm really happy for him, because he's someone who has always made efforts without always being rewarded with goals. Now he’s combining the two. For us, it's a great asset to have players who are fit and able to raise their own level in order to raise the team's level," said Digard, who is likely to hand January arrival Terem Moffi a Nice debut and pair him with Laborde up front.

"Of course they can play together. They have different and complementary qualities. The thinking will always be who is available to the squad, which opponent we are facing and trying to make as few mistakes as possible."

Jean-Clair Todibo and Hicham Boudaoui limped out of the victory at Lens, which ended the hosts' 15-game unbeaten run at the Stade Félix Bollaert-Délelis, but both are available for the match.
