Injured in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats R23 win over Lens on Sunday, Olympique Lyonnais striker Alexandre Lacazette will be absent for Friday's R24 trip to Auxerre on Friday.

Olympique Lyonnais' top scorer and captain Alexandre Lacazette has been suffering from pain in the left thigh and will be absent for Friday's trip to Auxerre for the Round 24 opener, OL announced on Monday.

Back for the Coupe de France?

The player was injured at the very end of the first half of the match between Lyon and RC Lens (2-1) on Sunday.

"Further medical and physical examinations will be made early next week to adapt the best care and athletic preparation for the striker," said a statement from the club.

However, after the trip to Auxerre, OL must play away to bottom club Angers SCO, at 17:00 on 25 February, and Lacazette could still be short of fitness at that point.

This would be a blow for Laurent Blanc's resurgent side as Lacazette, who opened the scoring in the win over RC Lens, is the club's top scorer at the moment with 14 goals in 23 Ligue 1 Uber Eats games.

However, club sources are fairly certain the in-form marksman will be back in time for the Coupe de France quarter-final against Grenoble Foot 38 (Ligue 2 BKT) on 28 February.
