However, when viewed from the perspective of the Argentine's all-time goal tally, it was a massive achievement, as it took the Rosario native to 800 goals for club and country in his glittering career.
This tally includes 672 goals from Messi's 17 seasons with Barcelona, 29 from his time with Paris Saint-Germain and 99 goals for his beloved Argentina - for whom he could hit the century-mark when the Albiceleste take on Curacao on Tuesday.
