After loaning Tino Kadewere to FC Nantes on Thursday, Olympique Lyonnais continue to be active in the transfer market, bringing in a pair of Brazilian players from sister club Botafogo.
Lyon have a long history of bringing Brazilian players into their team, and often to great success. Club legend Juninho, striker Sonny Anderson, defender Cris and midfielder Edmilson were part of the team’s run of seven titles in the 2000s, while the likes of Michel Bastos and Fred were key to deep runs in the Champions League.
More recently, Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimares helped the team be contenders in the 2020-2021 season and Tête was a lively attacking presence. Now, two more players from have joined, in the form of defender Adryelson and goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

Both are experienced players, with Adryelson having played for both Sport Recife and Botafogo in Brazil’s top flight, as well as for Al-Wasl in the UAE. A sturdy central defender, he was even called up for the national team in October, and despite not seeing the pitch, represents an experienced option alongside Les Gones’ relatively callow Jake O’Brien and Sinaly Diomandé.
Perri is projected to be a reserve in France, with Anthony Lopes certain to retain the number one spot for Pierre Sage’s team. This had been his experience with O Glorioso as well — Paraguay international Gatito Fernández has long been their first-choice, but with Lopes’ only backup — 36-year-old Rémy Riou — having struggled with injury this season, the move for more continuity looks a smart one for Les Gones.
