Timothy Weah has scored two goals in his last three games for LOSC - against Celtic and Dijon FCO - but what else is there know about the high-flying young forward?

Lille lead the way in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, but until very recently 20-year-old Weah was largely watching on from the bench as Burak Yilmaz and Jonathan Bamba grabbed the lion's share of the goals, and the headlines.

But the American youngster has now scored two goals in his last 108 minutes of action across all competitions, and could be set to feature prominently when les Dogues take on his former club Paris Saint-Germain in their top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

Back story:

Born in Brooklyn, New York, in February 2000, Weah is the youngest son of former FIFA World Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or winner George Weah, who is now the President of Liberia.

Weah Senior - whose peak years were spent as a striker with AS Monaco, PSG and AC Milan - may have cast a long shadow for budding soccer player Timothy, but he soon found himself in the New York Red Bulls' youth academy, which he swapped for PSG's at the age of 14.

Early promise has made way for frustration in recent seasons. Weah's path to regular first-team football was blocked by certain Messrs Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé at PSG; a loan spell at Celtic went south after a change in management, and his move to LOSC in 2019 was quickly followed by persistent hamstring injuries.

Recent form suggests he could be about to put all that behind him.

Style of play:

Unlike his father who lined up as a classic number 9 - even if he did sometimes drop deep to begin moves - Timothy does most of his best work from a starting position out wide, on the left if given the choice. Like George, though, the LOSC man has an electric turn of pace married to a natural ease on the ball.

With a hand in 15 goals in 50 games at club level and one strike in 10 appearances for the USMNT to date, there is still room for Weah to grow more prolific, but it is easy to forget he is still only 20, and has time on his side.

Current campaign:

Once convinced of Weah's fitness this term, LOSC coach Christophe Galtier included him in his squad for the Round 2 1-0 win at Stade de Reims. But despite getting off the bench that day and eight out of 11 subsequent league games, he has had to watch on as Yilmaz, Bamba and Jonathan David were preferred in the final third.

There has been a decided upswing in recent months, though. Weah featured prominently as LOSC secured their progression to the UEFA Europa League last 32, fought his way back into Gregg Berhalter's USA squad after a one-year hiatus - playing in their 6-2 destruction of Panama - and with his recent goals at home and abroad, is hitting form at just the right time to face PSG.

What they said:

"You could throw him in to a big game and a big scenario and he'll always try and come out on top. On the pitch he loves to express himself and there's a reason, when he made that move to PSG, everyone was confident that he would do well. He loves to attack and loves to go at you."

"For me, Lille is the best choice to progress and get playing time. Its a young and ambitious team. Joining LOSC is a big deal, this team had a great season last year, finishing second is a great performance, playing in the Champions League is also a dream that I will be able to achieve. I want to score goals in my new colours and help this club to win games and trophies."
