Paris Saint-Germain face a UEFA Champions League 'Final 8' in Lisbon in August while Lyon will play their Last 16 second leg against Juventus either in Italy or Portugal, UEFA have announced.

UEFA's Executive Committee voted on Wednesday to create a unique ending to the 2019-20 Champions League, grouping together the eight quarter-finalists in a single-match, knockout tournament in Portugal in August.

PSG were already through to the last eight after beating Borussia Dortmund behind closed doors just before France's lockdown period due to COVID-19 began.

"I would like to salute the work put in by UEFA in order to permit the clubs involved to finish the Champions League, which remains the most popular and prestigious club competition in the world," said PSG CEO and Chairman Nasser Al Khelaifi. "I am also very satisfied with the organisation of another finals tournament for the Women's Champions League, in which our team will take on Arsenal in the quarter-finals. In recent weeks I have had the chance to reiterate the extent to which the Champions League is important to the finances of clubs and broadcasters, but above all is important to the supporters, who love this competition.

"This unprecedented formula will be exciting and full of emotions. Our players and the coaching staff, who will be back in training next Monday, will do everything, with the talent and professionalism they are renowned for, in order to be ready for the start of August and the European challenge that awaits them."

Lyon, however, still have the second leg of their Last 16 tie with Juve to play. Leading 1-0 from the duo's encounter in France, the seven-time Ligue 1 champions will defend their advantage either in Turin or in Portugal — with Porto or Guimaraes the host cities — on 7 or 8 August.

The Final 8 tournament will be held in Lisbon from 12 to 23 August with the home stadiums of Benfica and Sporting used.
