LOSC had the in-form Jonathan Bamba to thank for the 1-1 draw with Milan that kept Les Dogues a point clear atop Europa League Group H, while Nice's 3-1 defeat at home to Slavia Prague saw their qualification hopes all but sputter out.

LOSC continue to fly high in Europe despite a difficult night at home to AC Milan on Matchday 4. After dominating the Lombards in 3-0 in Milan on Matchday 3, Christophe Galtier's men had a tougher time of things and would have tasted defeat has the mercurial Jonathan Bamba not stepped up to the plate - as he so often does - and hit a precious goal to cancel out Samu Castillejo's opener.

Galtier: 'Could have gone either way'

"When you're behind and you manage to level it against Milan, that's pretty good. The players deserve credit for that," declared LOSC boss Christophe Galtier, whose second-placed side take on Saint-Etienne in Sunday night's big Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 12 clash. "It was a very tight match. It could have gone either way. We've take four points from two matches against  Milan, and we should appreciate that. There are some regrets about situations where we needed to be more clinical, but we gave a good account of ourselves. We didn't lose and we collected points."

Group H remains wide open, however, with just two points separating Les Dogues from third-placed Sparta Prague - whom they face in Lille on 3 December.

OGC Nice on the ropes

Vieira point

Meanwhile things aren't looking as rosy for Nice, who fell to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Slavia Prague. Despite dominating possession - and hitting the post twice before levelling the match at 1-1 when Amine Gouiri struck to cancel out Slavia's spectacular opener - Patrick Vieira's Aiglons couldn't prevent another two goals form the visitors in the final 30 minutes.

Now six points adrift of the leading pair of Slavia and Bayer Leverkusen with two matches left to play, Nice's hopes of a place in the knockout rounds are lim at best, a fact not lost on their coach.

Vieira: 'You can't give up'

"We were unlucky in some key moments and showed a lot of naivety in other decisive moments. Bad choices were made in the defensive and offensive phases, mistakes and hesitations were made," explained Vieira. "There is frustration and anger because we blew it tonight, even though we plenty of desire. This is not enough against a well-organised and experienced team like Slavia. With this defeat, it makes things very complicated - qualifying is almost mission impossible. But still, you can't give up."

Nice will need wins from their next two matches - at home to Leverkusen and then away to Hapoel Beer-Sheva - while hoping for other results to go their way if they are to progress to the round of 16. In the meantime, they return to Ligue 1 Uber Eats action with the visit of bottom club Dijon on Sunday evening.
