Les Bleus kick off their Euro 2020 campaign in Group F - the group of death featuring Germany, Portugal and Hungary - with the perhaps the stiffest test, and coach Didier Deschamps knows it will be a pitched battle as the last two World Cup-winning sides face off in Munich.
"Football at the highest level is an athletic battle as much as anything else, and the Germans are prepared for that. At this level, technique makes the difference, it's true, but there will also be total commitment and focus from both teams," said Deschamps, whose side are unbeaten in seven outings. "That will be very much the case on Tuesday."
Stars on show
Deschamps has a full-strength side to choose from, and is tipped to field a 4-3-3 with the dream trio of Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema and PSG's Kylian Mbappé across the front line, with the likes of Monaco star Wissam Ben Yedder, Olivier Giroud and Ousmane Dembélé on the bench.
Meanwhile Germany coach Joachim Löw also has his pick of a superstar squad, and is tipped to go with a three-man defence with Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry and UEFA Champions League winner with Chelsea Kai Havertz to provide the cutting edge up front.
France have a notable advantage in the head-to-head record between the traditional rivals, with 14 wins to Germany's nine - while the last two outings (0-0, 2-2) took the draw count to eight.
