The UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League conducted their draws on Friday, unveiling the Round of 16 matchups for Olympique de Marseille and LOSC Lille.

Marseille emerged as the sole Ligue 1 representative to progress to the Europa League Round of 16 and their upcoming challenge sees them pitted against Villarreal from La Liga. Marseille secured their berth after a strenuous two-leg playoff victory against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

The first leg between the two clubs will occur on March 7 at the Stade Vélodrome and the second leg is on March 14 at Estadio de la Cerámica. Newly appointed manager Jean-Louis Gasset will have more time with his squad before the clash as they'll have two Ligue 1 matches before turning their attention to the Spanish club.

Villarreal currently occupies the 13th spot in La Liga and is poised to offer an exciting two-match showdown against OM. This draw also signifies the second French-Spanish clash in the knockout stage of a UEFA tournament this season, with Paris Saint-Germain facing Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Lille is the only Ligue 1 team in the Conference League and Les Dogues waited for the knockout round play-off to be over to find out their opponent. Paulo Fonseca and his team will face Austrian side SK Sturm Graz in the Round of 16.

The first leg will be on March 7 at Merkur Arena and the second leg will be on March 14 at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
