The Canadian striker continued his good form with a brace to help lead Les Dogues past Sturm Graz in the first leg of their Europa Conference League Round of 16 tie.

LOSC Lille continued their impressive European form on Thursday evening, notching a 3-0 win away to Sturm Graz. Jonathan David, scorer of six goals in his last five Ligue 1 games, netted a brace, while Edon Zhegrova added a third against the overmatched hosts.

Now unbeaten in seven matches in Europe this season, following four wins and two draws in the group stage, Les Dogues dominated possession, and scarcely allowed Sturm Graza chance, as Lucas had just two saves to make. David had played infrequently in the group stage, but his brace lifts him to four goals in the competition.

While David made the difference, Zhegrova's goal demonstrated a flair for the spectacular. Receiving the ball from a corner, the Kosovan winger turned and arrowed the ball into the opposite corner, leaving the hosts' goalkeeper no chance with his first goal in almost a month.

Their advantage secured, Lille have one foot in the quarterfinals, and the team were happy with their play. Speaking post-match, Hákon Haraldsson said, "3-0 away from home, it's a really good night for us. This is a good result ahead of the home leg, so I'm really happy for us." Fonseca concurred, labeling his side's match, "tactically perfect." This perfection will no doubt give LOSC every measure of confidence ahead of not only the second leg but also a tricky match against Stade Rennais at the weekend.
