UEFA Champions League Group G

FC Zenit Saint-Petersburg  2 - 0  Olympique Lyonnais

Rudi Garcia (Lyon coach): "We owed it to ourselves to do better. We needed at least a draw to keep matters in our own hands when it comes to qualifying. We conceded two goals when we sat back. We would have done better pressing higher up the pitch and creating more chances. The first half wasn't good enough considering the players we have. In the second half we were much better and we dominated the match for at least 15 minutes, even if our play was too predictable. We needed to have played the whole match the way we played the first 15 minutes of the second half."

Juninho (Lyon sporting director): “There are no excuses. The players weren’t up to it and the team was unable to dominate the midfield. We didn’t have the energy of a team that was playing a final in order to qualify. Since the start of the season there have always been three, four or five players not playing to their level. The eleven never play well at the same time.“

UEFA Champions League Group H

LOSC  0 - 2  Ajax

Christophe Galtier (Lille coach): "Unfortunately we didn't score when we were on top. In all five games, we've lacked a clinical streak, and in this beautiful but cruel competition, we were punished for it. Of course Ajax are a better side than us and there's no doubt about that. You need to be clinical in key areas of the field and that's what Ajax managed. My squad have deserved at least a win in this competition for the work put in and the desire they've shown."

Victor Osimhen (Lille forward): "It was devastating to concede such an early goal. But we had chances, we could have led 2-1. I'm always positive in what I think and do, so we'll go to Chelsea to play our game. We are playing against one of the best teams in the world, and we know it'll be tough. But our best performance so far came against Chelsea here."
