Coupe de France final
Stade de France, Paris
AJ Auxerre 0 - 1 Paris Saint-Germain
Laurent Blanc (Paris Saint-Germain coach): "Our season has ended beautifully with this Coupe de France. That's what we wanted! It was tough to win, but it's beautiful. We're satisfied, of course, but it was tough faced with an Auxerre side who played very well. Our hats are off to them; they played to their strengths and showed some incredible qualities. But I'm satisfied, because in the end it's only the result that counts. I think both teams can be happy tonight, even though there is one that is necessarily happier than the other."
Jean-Luc Vannuchi (AJ Auxerre coach): "There are mixed feelings for us: the frustration of the finality of having lost this final but also the great pride I have in my players and my staff. We've ended a great season but we could have done even better. At half-time (with the score still at 0-0), I said to the players, 'You've already pulled off something huge against a side who were playing Champions League football. Now you have one half left to seal the deal'. We believed in our chances. We believed in ourselves and I think we did really well. But sill, it's frustrating. It's a shame; we could have done better."
Nasser Al-Khelaifi (Paris Saint-Germain president): "It's the best season in the history of the club, so it's a marvellous evening! We are very proud to be the first team in France to complete a domestic quadruple and enter our name in the history of French football. We are very proud of our players and our supporters. Now, our main dream, the one we are working for every day, remains to win the Champions League. You can't win that overnight; we saw that it took Chelsea nearly ten years. We are improving every day, including in the Champions League, because this year we eliminated Chelsea. Now we will sit down with the coach Laurent Blanc, and see what we need to change to improve the team."
Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain striker)
"It has been a huge season… historic for the players the club and the city of Paris. It's a huge joy. We've made progress since last season because we've won one extra trophy. We're on the right track. Now all that's left is for us to win the most prestigious and toughest to win competition: the Champions League."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Paris Saint-Germain striker)
"You can't do better than this; we've won everything in France. We're proud! It was a long season. We're a bit tired, but we have achieved what no-one before us has achieved. An extra trophy next season? Yes. I want more trophies!"
Salvatore Sirigu (Paris Saint-Germain 'keeper)
"It's what we wanted, what we were after. It wasn't easy. We were very strong favourites, but it's never easy. We had to fight hard to win this title, and we're very satisfied with our season. We stuck together through thick and thin this season, and that shows the worth of a team. We can always do better, but winning four titles from five on offer is something that not every club in Europe will ever achieve. We're happy to have four more titles to our names - we know we've entered into history - but I think it will take a while to sink in…"
David Luiz (Paris Saint-Germain defender)
"It's never easy to win a trophy, and we've won four of them. It's really an extraordinary pleasure to play for this familial and humane club. I hope that everyone will still be here next season, because we have a fantastic squad. We need to have even more ambition - the ambition to keep ourselves at the highest level - and now of course we're dreaming of winning the Champions League. I think we're on the right track."
Lucas (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"I'm very happy and very proud to play for PSG. I always want to win every competition my team is playing in, and we've pulled off something extraordinary by winning all four domestic trophies, because it's the first time this has happened in the history of French football. Now, we can't afford to sit on our laurels. We need to keep going and win the only trophy we're missing: the Champions League."
Blaise Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain midfielder)
"We've played a great season. We came to Paris Saint-Germain to experience moments like this. We've written history. We showed that we're the strongest club on a national level. We're proud of ourselves, of our fans and of Paris Saint-Germain. The season has been long and at times complicated, but in the end we managed to achieve something amazing. This is an important trophy: it's my first Coupe de France! We'll savour this moment!"
