Arena Kombëtare, Tirana
Albania 0 - 2 France
Edoardo Reja (Albania coach): "I'm not very happy with the result nor with the way it happened. I was expecting a different kind of performance from my team. Above all we blew it in the first half. There were some improvements after the break, but really it was our goalkeeper [Etrit] Berisha who saved us from a bigger defeat. We might have deserved to score in the second half, but we were up against the world champions. My team was probably a bit star-struck. The French team also showed a good overall control of the match."
Didier Deschamps (France coach): "My 100th match in charge? I have had a lot of testimonies from all my staff, my president, my players. It warms my heart because I depend a lot on my players. It's personal pride, but I'm especially proud to see what they do together with that spirit. The state of mind is there and so is the quality. You can't do better than topping the group, but maybe we needed more points in order to go into Pot 1 in the draw for the finals. But the criteria have changed. Some large nations may also find themselves in Pots 3 or 4. Still - we did what we wanted to do and we got what we deserved."
Leo Dubois (France right-back): "I'm very happy to have got my first assist with France [for Antoine Griezmann's goal, France's second]. I'm also happy for Antoine because he needed to score. We got the job done; the pitch wasn't great but we managed to keep possession. We wanted to top the group and that's what we did, so we're satisfied. We have to get used to this new formation - it's a more attacking system for us. We have full-backs who are able to contribute up front and we have the strikers to finish moves off. We're here to adapt."
