Meunier excited by Bruges return
Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League clash with Club Brugge in Belgium on Tuesday will be a special occasion for Thomas Meunier, who previously starred for the Belgian club.
"It was with them that I had my footballing education, between the ages of 19 and 24," Meunier said in an interview with PSG TV, also published on the club's website.
"They made part of the Thomas Meunier who is at Paris Saint-Germain today. They are a very good team with an excellent coach. They have a new stadium coming and have invested in players like Simon Mignolet from Liverpool. That shows their ambition," added the defender, who moved to the Parc des Princes in 2016.
While Paris have won both matches so far in Champions League Group A, the Belgians have drawn with both Galatasaray and Real Madrid - they were 2-0 up away to the latter in Spain before being pegged back to 2-2.
"We saw against Real that they could have been 3-0 up and had the match in the bag, but a 2-2 draw is still a fantastic result. It is a long time since a Belgian club has given the country as much excitement in Europe as they are now," added Meunier.
