Nice and Lyon drawn together
Lyon will travel to Nice in the stand-out tie of the French Cup last 32, while holders Paris Saint-Germain were paired with little Agen in Sunday’s draw.
Ten Ligue 1 sides were eliminated from the Cup in a weekend to remember for the giantkillers. It is the first time that so many top-flight clubs have been sent packing from the competition before the last 32.
Nice scraped past Créteil of the third tier on penalties, and their reward is a home tie with Lyon in what is the only all-Ligue 1 clash in the next round. OL have already won away to top-flight opposition, ousting Caen 1-0 in Normandy on Saturday evening.
Paris Saint-Germain began their defence of the trophy by putting five past Lens, and they now face a trip to Aquitaine to play Agen of the fifth division, one of the smallest sides left in the tournament. PSG’s capital neighbours Paris FC will look to add the scalp of Sochaux to that of Toulouse. Fresh from stunning Auxerre, fifth-tier Wasquehal can now look forward to a derby clash with the current Ligue 1 leaders Lille.
