French Cup dream finally ended when a Pauleta goal earned PSG a 1-0 win over the amateur outfit in the eagerly-awaited quarter-final clash between the sides at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Carquefou - who have beaten Nancy and Marseille on route to this stage of the competition - were looking for another major scalp but were unable to overcome Paul Le Guen's capital outfit despite fanatical support from a sell-out crowd at Nantes' home stadium, which is just down the road from Carquefou.

Pauleta, in outstanding form recently, came on as a second-half substitute and netted the winner with 14 minutes to go when he headed home a Sylvain Armand cross after Carquefou defender Maximilien Moreau was unable to clear.

But the quarter-finals did see a giant-killing act when Sedan earned their berth in the semi-finals with an unexpected penalty shoot-out victory over Bordeaux. The Ligue 2 outfit were the better side during 120 minutes at Bordeaux's Stade Chaban-Delmas and kept their nerve better during the spot-kicks.

Fernando Cavenaghi and long-serving defender Franck Jurietti missed les Girondins' first two penalties - and although Morgan Amalfitano also missed from the spot for the visitors, they triumphed 4-3 to make it through to the last four for the third time in 10 years.
