A little over a week out from the Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace-En Avant de Guingamp Coupe de la Ligue BKT final, emblematic football brand Umbro and the LFP have launched the competition's new ball for season 2019-2020.

This new official ball boasts a colourful new design, inspired by the traditional blue, yellow and gold of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT. The name 'Prodige' - prodigy in French - underlines the talent and the qualities of the players who take part in the competition.

The innovative design of 'Prodige' gives a new look at the elements of the Coupe de la Ligue BKT logo - itself inspired by the unique shape of the trophy itself. One can find subtle icons and motifs - which make reference to traditional football moves and the Coupe de la Ligue BKT universe - all over the ball's surface.

Eco-friendly

In order to work within the constraints of the modern world and to minimise impact on the environment, Umbro conceived of this ball with eco-friendliness as a priority, notably opting to construct its outer layer from ECO-PET, a substance made from recycled plastic bottles.

The ball is coated with a textured microfibre that lends extra grip with the first touch and greater control. It also boasts DPS (Dual Pressure System) construction, a manufacturing technique comprising a double layer of foam of different density below the surface. This hybrid process, which combines glue and stitches, creates a more uniform and aerodynamic ball - while also benefiting from the technical expertise and technological know-how of the equipment manufacturer.

The Decca Panel configuration is repeated by Umbro on this new ball. The ten panels - four triangles and six elongated hexagons - guarantee an optimal point of contact and, in conjunction with the DPS construction, a regular bounce.

This new ball will be used for the first time in the Coupe de la Ligue BKT final between Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace and En Avant de Guingamp on 30 March at Lille's Stade Pierre Mauroy.
