Umbro presents the new Coupe de la Ligue ball
A few days out from the Coupe de la Ligue final, emblematic football brand Umbro and the LFP have unveiled the 2018-19 version of the Coupe de la Ligue ball.
Featuring the Coupe de la ligue's traditional blue and yellow colour scheme, which lends it an air of distinction, this new official match ball 'League Competition' is flush with modern touches while drawing inspiration from the shape of the competition's trophy and logo for its design. This new ball reaps all the benefits of the veteran brand's technology and savoir-faire.
The ball has been developed with an ECO-PET outer coating made from recycled plastic bottles, thus taking into account real-world demands and minimizing its impact on the environment through eco-responsible manufacturing.
The outer shell's textured microfibers provide extra adhesion on the first touch and improved ball control. The ball is made using DPS Construction (Dual Pressure System), a manufacturing technique comprising foam layers of different densities under the surface. This hybrid method, which incorporates glue as well as stitching, creates a more uniform and aerodynamic ball.
Finally, Umbro have also incorporated their Decca Panel Configuration: 10 panels comprising four triangles and six hexagons to offer a maximum of points of contact and, in conjunction with the DPS, a more consistent rebound.
This new ball will be used in the Coupe de la Ligue final on March 31 at the Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux.
The brand was created in 1924 in Manchester by a young tailor called Harold Humphreys, who always believed that style was an advantage in performance. "If you looked smart, you played smart." A principle that is still the catch cry for Umbro, who mix their rich heritage with a modern footballing culture to create high-performance equipment as well as Sportswear for those who are as obsessed by the game as we are.
