Amiens can count on Gurtner
Régis Gurtner's star turn played a big role in Amiens SC's breaking their away-day duck with a 1-0 victory in Toulouse at the weekend and earned him a place among the top saves from Ligue 1 Conforama's Week 13.
On Saturday, Régis Gurtner well and truly brought his A-game. His nine decisive interventions (four saves and five parries), including the one that denied Manu Garcia and earned him a place among the weekend's Top Saves, helped Amiens SC to leave Toulouse with a precious win.
It was a fitting way to mark his 50th Ligue 1 Conforama appearance. Since his top-flight debut last season, the Amiens glovesman has made 174 saves - just three fewer than Toulouse's Baptiste Reynet, who has led the way. Gurtner has evidently been frequently called upon and has stepped up every time.
Second-highest save total in Ligue 1 Conforama
This season, the side from the Picardy region are counting on the last rampart of their defence than in the last campaign. Christophe Pélissier's side boasted the fourth-tightest defence in the league in 2017-18, but this time around have already conceded half of last season's tally in just 13 matches (21 goals).
However, the player who came up through the academy at RC Strasbourg Alsace continues to give his all in quest of clean sheets, something he has achieved three times this season. Since the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign, only SM Caen 'keeper Brice Samba (50) has made more saves than Régis Gurtner (45).
