Amiens taste away victory at last
Amiens recorded their first away win in 13 Ligue 1 Conforama matches as they scored an important 2-1 success at Metz in a relegation six-pointer.
FC Metz 1-2 Amiens SC
Amiens were attempting to take advantage of Metz's fragile confidence and were close to going in front (29') when Alexandre Oukidja had to produce heroics to keep out a Serhou Guirassy effort from a Juan Otero low cross.
The Amiens breakthrough deservedly came (40') when Alexis Blin lifted a lovely ball to Guirassy, who had run in behind John Boye and Stoppila Sunzu, and the former Cologne forward headed home. Amiens increased their advantage (54') when Guirassy turned provider with a low cross for Bakaye Diabassy to score his first of the season.
Metz belatedly came up with a reaction to ensure they wouldn't lose without scoring for the fourth game running. Habib Diallo, so lethal in Ligue 2 last season with 26 goals, has adapted rapidly to top division life and he netted his fourth of the campaign after rounding Régis Gurtner.
THE PLAYER: Serhou Guirassy
The tall 23-year-old is set to be a vital player in Amiens' survival bid and his second goal of the season augurs well for an attack currently shorn of the injured Moussa Konaté. Luka Elsner will want to see more of this from the rangy forward to help the climb away from the foot of the table.
THE STAT: 3
Metz have lost all three Ligue 1 Conforama games they've played against Amiens.
