Ben Yedder hat-trick does for Sochaux
Wissam Ben Yedder plundered his first Ligue 1 hat-trick as Toulouse brushed aside bottom club Sochaux 5-1.
Toulouse FC 5-1 FC Sochaux Montbéliard
Sochaux made the perfect start when Zambian international hitman Emmanuel Mayuka confirmed his magnificent form with his third goal in as many Ligue 1 matches. Mayuka struck in the eighth minute, smashing the ball past Ali Ahamada after service from Cédric Bakambu.
On 27 minutes Ben Yedder equalised, side-footing beyond Simon Pouplin after a fine Martin Braithwaite ball.
Sochaux defender Carlao went off injured five minutes before the break and the Brazilian's absence may have contributed to Ben Yedder giving TFC the lead on the stroke of half-time. Ben Yedder dribbled his way past veteran Cédric Kanté before giving Pouplin no chance.
TFC ensured their first win in five games and their fourth straight win over Les Lionceaux when Basque midfielder Pantxi Sirieix scored with a swerving 25-metre effort that deceived Pouplin in the flight.
On the hour TFC had a penalty when Petrus Boumal handballed and Ben Yedder converted with aplomb to complete his triple haul.
The luckless Boumal put through his own net in stoppage time as Sochaux suffered their joint-heaviest defeat of the season along with the 5-1 loss at Guingamp in Week 7 that caused Eric Hély to offer his resignation. Hervé Renard is still without a win since taking over and Boumal's own goal after a Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro cross rather summed up the night and indeed the season.
