Dagba: 'Great pride'
Young Paris Saint-Germain right-back Colin Dagba has extended his contract through to 2024 and is, unsurprisingly, thrilled to continue the adventure with Ligue 1 Conforama's reigning champions.
Something of a surprise inclusion in Thomas Tuchel's squad after a summer transfer window that saw Paris Saint-Germain let go of a hot of its home-grown talent, Colin Dagba has had an excellent start to the season. So good in fact that he has convinced sporting director Leonardo to sign him to a long-term deal.
'The club is counting on me'
"It is a great pride to extend my deal with Paris Saint-Germain," acknowledged Dagba, now linked to the club through to 2024, in an interview with Yahoo Sport! "After that, if I could extend through to 2080, that would be good too [smiles]. Frankly, it feels great. I feel like the club is counting on me."
In competition with Thomas Meunier for right-back duties, Dagba was Tuchel's first choice when he picked up an injury in the 1-0 win over Strasbourg in mid-September. Although Belgian international Meunier has since made a return to form, Dagba - a France youth international - had been a few steps ahead before his injury and believes he has everything he needs in order to thrive in the capital.
'It's perfect for me'
"I would like to be part of the long-term plans here. I would like to go as long as possible at the club; it would really be a source of pride for me," continued the youngster. "It's the biggest club in France, and to have this show of confidence and the luck to play for such a club is exceptional. I love the city, I am very happy with my teammates and I have my family here too. It's perfect for me."
