Dia returns to Nancy
Senegal international striker Issiar Dia has returned to France after a season spent in Qatar, on Tuesday signing a one-year deal with the club from eastern France.
Despite still being just 29 years of age, Dia has plied his trade for six clubs in three different leagues, but on Tuesday he returned on a free transfer to the club where he has made the bulk of his professional appearances - AS Nancy-Lorraine - on a season-long deal.
Dia played at the Stade Marcel-Picot for four seasons between 2006 and 2010, making 137 appearances (17 goals) before moving to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe and then Qatari clubs Lekhwiya FC and Al Kharitiyath. He made a brief return to France with AC Ajaccio in the summer of 2015, but the following January saw the striker, who represented France at the U18, U19 and U21 levels, return to Al Kharitiyath for the remainder of season 2015-16.
Cometh the hour...
Nancy, who topped Ligue 2 last season, are currently experiencing a tough start to their promotion campaign in the top flight. Still winless and goalless with zero points after the first three matches, coach Pabloe Correa and his team will be hoping that Dia is fit to pitch in as they take on fellow strugglers FC Lorient in their Week 4 clash when the international break ends.
