Evian sack Correa!
Pablo Correa has become the first coaching casualty of the new Ligue 1 season when he was sacked in the wake of Evian TG's 2-0 loss away to Ajaccio. He has been replaced by the club's sporting director Pascal Dupraz.
Evian announced the news on Monday morning via the following statement that appeared on the club's official website:
"The Evian Thonon Gaillard board announces that Pablo Correa has been relieved of his functions as head coach due to the current run of poor results. The first team will now be coached by Pascal Dupraz, hitherto the club's sporting director."
Evian currently sit 18th on the Ligue 1 ladder with one point from their opening four games of the season.
"I respect their decision and don't have a whole more to add. I think four games into the new season is perhaps a little soon, but I don't want to start any more controversy," responded the Uruguayan coach who took over from Bernard Casoni in December 2011.
Dupraz, 49, has previously coached FC Gaillard and Croix-de-Savoie before joining Evian as sporting director.
