Friendly round-up: PSG, Lille on form
Ligue 1 sides Paris Saint-Germain, Lille and Rennes recorded friendly wins on Tuesday, while Toulouse were held to a 1-1 draw by second-division Rodez.
PSG encountered few problems against Nantes, relegated from the French top flight last season, with defender Sammy Traoré nodding the Parisians in front from a 20th-minute Clément Chantôme free-kick before Serbian striker Mateja Kezman (pictured) made sure of victory shortly before half-time.
Antoine Kombouaré's men welcomed back Jérome Rothen after the midfielder's suspension over disciplinary issues, while new signings goal-keeper Grégory Coupet and defender Christophe Jallet both featured.
"It's always good to win, even if it's not yet a very important match," said Coupet, who signed from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, having previously spent 11 years at Lyon.
"This year, I want to continue in the same vein as my time at Lyon, and maybe we'll have the same kind of success at the end of the season."
PSG: Coupet (Edel, 46) - Jallet (Cearà, 46), Traoré (Camara, 46), Bourillon (Baning, 46), Sakho (Armand, 46) - Arnaud (Giuly, 46), Chantôme (Ngoyi, 46), Makelele (Clément, 46), Sankharé (Rothen, 46) - Luyindula (Maurice, 46), Kezman (Hoarau, 46 (Boli, 62))
Lille 1-0 Reims
Lille overcame third-tier Reims thanks to a 78th-minute strike from second-half substitute Tulio De Melo.
LOSC were playing without Lyon-bound Brazilian midfielder Michel Bastos, while defender Adil Rami and Polish midfielder Ludovic Obraniak were both also absent from Rudi Garcia's side.
Lille: Butelle - Emerson (Souare, 75), Debuchy (Vandam, 75), Chedjou (Beria, 75), Plestan (Franquart, 75) - Mavuba (Cabaye, 75), Hazard (Salibur, 75), Balmont (Gueye, 75), Fauvergue (De Melo, 75) - Vittek (Aubameyang, 75), Touré (Frau, 75)
Rennes 3-2 Brest
Rennes fought back from a goal down to win an entertaining game against second-division Brest in Carnac and begin their pre-season campaign on a winning note.
The Ligue 1 side trailed 2-1 at the interval, before Abdoul Camara equalised on 48 minutes and Mickaël Pagis rammed in the winner from long range with 17 minutes to play.
"I saw some good things and some things that need improving," said Rennes coach Frédéric Antonetti. "The rhythm in the first half was a bit slow. The second half went better because the players were livelier."
Rennes: Douchez (Luzi, 46) - Fanni (Catherine, 46), Hansson (Oniangue, 46), Aubey (Boye, 46), Echiejile (Danzé, 46) - Lemoine (M'Vila, 46), Inamoto (Cheyrou, 46), Leroy (Camara, 46) - Thomert (Marveaux, 46), Sow (Kembo, 46), Gyan (Pagis, 46)
Toulouse 1-1 Rodez
Toulouse welcomed back striker André-Pierre Gignac, last season's top scorer in Ligue 1, but were held to a draw by Ligue 2 outfit Rodez.
Gignac played for 72 minutes and had two goals ruled out for offside, with 19-year-old midfielder Moussa Sissoko's 15th-minute goal earning TFC a share of the spoils.
Toulouse: Pelé (Blondel, 64) - Ebondo (Cesar, 56), Congre (Tabanou, 59), Nounkeu (Firmin, 46), Fofana (Nounkeu, 69) - Berson (Sirieix, 46), Bonnet (Regattin, 56), Braaten (Devaux, 46), Sissoko (N'Diaye, 59), Machado (Didot, 46) - Gignac (Soukouna, 72)
