Olympique Lyonnais 0-1 LOSC
THE MATCH
It was another setback for OL, who have now lost three of their last five games in all competitions and are four points off the provisional podium. Not even the return from injury of Memphis Depay could prevent OL slipping to another disappointing result against one of their bogey clubs.
Depay almost made a dream comeback (1') to club action but his low shot was saved by Mike Maignan. The game enjoyed a lively opening spell and Victor Osimhen (10') was denied a goal when his powerful header from a precise Renato Sanches cross was expertly saved by Anthony Lopes.
After that, the game petered out and the only other noteworthy incident of the first half was Youssouf Koné going off injured. The breakthrough came from a mistake (68') when Marcelo played a poor pass out of the home defence. Benjamin André collected the ball and fed Osimhen, who set up Ikoné. The French international held off the Lyon defence and finished past Lopes.
Houssem Aouar, like Depay back from injury, had come on just before the goal. Straight after it, Rudi Garcia brought on Moussa Dembélé - the top scorer in the division - in a forlorn quest to get back on terms or kick on to secure a third straight league win for the first time this season.
THE PLAYER: Victor Osimhen
While Osimhen is still without a Ligue 1 Conforama goal away from home, the Nigerian international came up with a crucial assist for Ikoné's goal as LOSC scored their second consecutive 1-0 victory. A night billed as a competition between Depay and Osimhen turned out to be short on chances but Osimhen still came out on top.
THE STAT: 6
OL haven't won any of their last six Ligue 1 Conforama games against Lille, losing three times and drawing three times.
