Korean duo on target as Dijon beat Troyes
South Korean duo Kwon Chang-Hoon (pictured) and Suk Hyun-Jun were both on the scoresheet as Dijon FCO beat ESTAC Troyes 3-1 at the Stade Gaston-Gérard on Saturday.
Dijon FCO 3 - 1 ESTAC Troyes
Suk had scored his first Ligue 1 Conforama goal following his loan move from FC Porto when Troyes beat RC Strasbourg Alsace in their last outing before the international break. And he picked up where he left off as he headed the visitors in front here, getting in front of Papy Mison Djilobodji to meet a corner from the left (19').
However, Dijon were back on level terms before the half-hour mark. Persistent play from Frédéric Sammaritano set up Jordan Marié for a shot that came back off the post, and Julio Tavares was on hand to convert the rebound (29').
Tavares, the Cape Verde international striker, was at it again just after the restart, netting his second of the game and fourth of the season with an audacious back-heel from Kwon's right-wing cross (46').
Kwon, a January recruit from Suwon Bluewings in his homeland, then got in on the act with a fine run and finish on his left foot from 22 yards for his third of the campaign (51') as Dijon claimed a second consecutive home win. Olivier Dall'Oglio's side climb above Troyes on goals scored, with this defeat a fourth in five games in all competitions for the side from Champagne country.
THE PLAYER: Julio Tavares
Tavares formed a fruitful partnership with Loïs Diony last season before the latter departed for AS Saint-Etienne. It has understandably taken time for the Cape Verde striker to readjust this season, but he got the winner against FC Nantes a fortnight ago and his two goals here - his first brace in a Ligue 1 Conforama game - were crucial as the Burgundy club climb up towards mid-table.
THE STAT: 100
Tavares' and Dijon's second goal of the evening was the club's 100th in the top flight. This is just Dijon FCO's third season among the elite after 2011-12 and 2016-17.
