Stade Rennais FC have announced that Sabri Lamouchi is no longer the club's head coach following the first team's capitulation in the 4-1 defeat at home to Strasbourg on Sunday.
A statement, published on the club's official website on Monday morning, read:
"Stade Rennais FC have decided to relieve Sabri Lamouchi of his duties as head coach. Reserve team coach Julien Stéphan will take the reins of the first team during this period."
Stéphan will have just three days to prepare for his first hit-out as interim first-team boss, with a trip to third-placed Lyon on the cards for Wednesday.

After claiming just two points over the last three rounds, Rennes currently sit in 14th place on the Ligue 1 Conforama table with four wins, five draws and six defeats under Lamouchi. The club are nonetheless still in the running for a place in the UEFA Europa League round of 32 and will put it all on the line away to Kazakh outfit FC Astana in their Matchday 6 clash on Thursday, 13 December.
