After playing a key role for Les Verts after joining in the second half of last season, Yann M'Vila has extended his contract with Jean-Louis Gasset's side by three years.

France midfielder Yann M'Vila (28, 22caps) has signed a three-year contract extension with AS Saint-Etienne, the club announced on Monday. He is now linked to the club through to 2022.

M'Vila initially signed with Les Verts on 12 January 2018 on a season-and-a-half deal running to 30 June 2019, having opted for a move back to France after being released from his contract with Russian top-flight outfit Rubin Kazan.

Strong showing with Les Verts

In the space of just half a season, M'Vila made a huge impact in Saint-Etienne, making his first start just five days after signing and starting 17 out of the remaining 18 matches of the season to help the club turn a troubled season around.

Before playing for Saint-Etienne and Kazan, M'Vila was a Stade Rennais FC man, coming up through the renowned youth academy and then making his senior debut (2008-2013) before playing for Italian giants Inter (2014-15) and EPL side Sunderland, both stints on loan from FC Rubin.
