Marseille refuse to release Ayew
Marseille have told the Ghanaian FA that they will not be releasing Jordan Ayew for international duty at the African under-20 championships.
Ghana had hoped to include the younger of the two Ayew brothers plying their trade at the Stade Vélodrome for the tournament which will begin in South Africa this weekend. However, OM have confirmed that the front man is required by Didier Deschamps for a decisive period in the club’s season.
Marseille go to south-coast rivals Montpellier this weekend looking to maintain the pressure on Ligue 1 leaders Lille, whose lead at the top is now down to three points. The following week they face the same side again in the final of the Coupe de la Ligue at the Stade de France.
Ayew has made fifteen appearances in Ligue 1 this season, although he has started only once, at Monaco in late January.
