Mbappé on Neymar-Cavani clash: 'It’s nothing'
Kylian Mbappé has calmed the water following intense media interest in the clash between his Paris Saint-Germain clubmates Neymar Jr and Edinson Cavani in Friday night’s friendly between Brazil and Uruguay in London.
As Brazil and Uruguay contested what resulted in a 1-0 victory for the Seleção at Emirates Stadium in London on Friday night, there was a short altercation between the Paris Saint-Germain clubmates when Cavani fouled Neymar Jr.
The Brazilian refused to take Cavani’s hand, which the Uruguayan had offered to help him up off the ground, but both players down played the incident after the match - as did Kylian Mbappé, who will likely turn out for France as they take on Cavani’s Uruguay in Paris on Tuesday evening.
'He was laughing'
"I sent Neymar a WhatsApp with video of Cavani’s foul on him, and he was laughing," said Mbappé of the two players who were famously involved in the 'Penaltygate' dispute over spot-kick duties at the capital club shortly after Neymar’s arrival in 2017.
"It’s nothing. There was a challenge, and they’re playing for their countries, and they did the right thing. They didn’t back down; if there’s a ball to win, you have to go for it. But that won’t stop them from hugging each other as they score goals together with PSG."
