Monaco held by Reims
Cesc Fàbregas came off injured as AS Monaco were held to a 0-0 draw by Stade de Reims at the Stade Louis II on Saturday.
AS Monaco 0 - 0 Stade de Reims
Monaco have suffered just one Ligue 1 Conforama defeat since Leonardo Jardim returned to the club for a second spell as coach in late January, but this result means they have also managed just one win in their last six outings.
That means they remain seven points clear of the bottom three with six matches remaining, a comfortable margin but not enough to end any lingering threat of relegation.
The principality club also saw Fàbregas go off injured with an apparent calf problem inside 14 minutes, with Jean-Eudes Aholou taking his place. In addition, Stevan Jovetić was replaced late on after appearing to hurt his knee, and Jardim will hope that it is nothing too serious for either player.
Both sides hit woodwork
In a disappointing encounter, both teams hit the woodwork - Boulaye Dia saw a header rebound off a post for Reims late in the first half, while Kamil Glik headed against the bar and over in the 76th minute.
Once again Monaco were lacking in attacking inspiration, with Radamel Falcao unable to make the difference after coming on as a second-half substitute. Gelson Martins almost won it in stoppage time, but his shot was kept out by the diving Edouard Mendy in the Reims goal. The Champagne side remain in European contention after this result.
THE PLAYER: Stevan Jovetic
The Montenegrin made his first Ligue 1 Conforama start since October 20 here, after coming off the bench to score a late equaliser at Guingamp last weekend. However, in an injury-hit season, he was taken off hurt late on with a knee problem that looked potentially serious.
THE STAT: 100
Kamil Glik made his 100th Ligue 1 appearance here, with the Polish defender almost marking the occasion with a goal only to see his second-half header hit the bar on its way over.
