AS Monaco announced on Friday the departure of Italian defender Andrea Raggi, who joined the club when they were in Domino's Ligue 2 seven years ago and played a key role in their 2016-17 Ligue 1 Conforama title win.

At AS Monaco since the summer of 2012, Andrea Raggi has experienced all the ups and downs France's top flight has to offer - from a first season in Domino's Ligue 2 to the title in Ligue 1 Conforama and superb campaigns in the Champions League. A few days after celebrating his 35th birthday, Andrea Raggi will leave the principality club, which announced on Friday that the Italian national would not extend his contract with AS Monaco.

Two titles

Claudio Ranieri's AS Monaco, which had been under Russian ownership for six months, signed Andrea Raggi from Bologna in the summer of 2012. The club were subsequently crowned Domino's League 2 champion and secured a return to the elite with the La Spezia-born defender playing 35 games and scoring 4 goals, in what would end up being his most prolific season in France. A first-team regular in his first three seasons in Ligue 1 Conforama, he helped Monaco back to the top of the mountain in 2016-17, with podium finishes in every other season save for 2018-19.

A key man due to his experience and versatility - he played in every position across the back line for ASM - Raggi began to play less as of the 2016-2017 campaign, but remained a key figure in the squad and made 20 appearances as Leonardo Jardim's side beat favourites PSG to the crown. Last season, he played 11 matches in all competitions.

230 matches with Monaco

In addition to the 2017 Ligue 1 Conforama title, Raggi lifted the Coupe de la Ligue BKT trophy in 2017-18 and played a part in two successful Champions League campaigns, helping his club reach the quarter-finals in 2015 and the semi-finals in 2017. In total, the Italian will have played 126 times for AS Monaco in Ligue 1 Conforama (4 goals) and 230 matches in all competitions.
