Senegal forward Mbaye Niang is set to stay at Coupe de France winners Rennes with the Breton club in line to activate the option-to-buy clause in Niang's loan deal from Torino.

Rennes have until midnight on Thursday evening in order to exercise their right to buy for a fee estimated at 15 million euros. The 24-year-old finished the season in terrific form, scoring nine of his 11 Ligue 1 Conforama goals in 2019.

Niang told L'Equipe: "I've already said that I don't want to go back to Torino where I am under contract until June 2021. There are discussions with Rennes and a desire to keep me. That desire is reciprocated but we still need to know the outcome of this story. I have had a very good year here and I hope that with Rennes we take the best decision. Rennes have until this evening, Thursday May 30, at midnight to take up the option to buy."

The former Caen, Montpellier and AC Milan player's form has led to plenty of interest. Niang confirmed: "There are potential options with top Ligue 1 clubs. There are also good teams in the Premier League and the Bundesliga. Coaches have tried to call me but I've said to them that I wanted to wait until after May 30 before potentially talking to them."
