OL battle to Strasbourg win
Jeff Reine-Adélaïde scored the winner as Olympique Lyonnais battled back from conceding the opener at Strasbourg to win 2-1.
RC Strasbourg Alsace 1-2 Olympique Lyonnais
OL bounced back from losing to Zenit St-Petersburg in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and falling a goal behind at La Meinau to a sweet Youssouf Fofana strike (22') as Maxwel Cornet (40') equalised and then Reine-Adélaïde popped up with the vital winner (75').
Lyon were still without the injured Memphis Depay, Houssem Aouar and Thiago Mendes, while Fernando Marçal was suspended. Rudi Garcia handed a first Ligue 1 Conforama appearance to midfielder Maxence Caqueret, 19, but it was Strasbourg who got themselves in front when Ludovic Ajorque teed up Fofana and the home midfielder, 20, took one touch to control before firing across Anthony Lopes into the side-netting.
Ajorque, Strasbourg's joint-top scorer this season with four league goals, volleyed straight at Lopes (38') just before OL equalised. Caqueret's pass deflected off Anthony Caci to Cornet and the Ivorian found the bottom corner of Matz Sels' net with a left-footed strike.
The second half was devoid of chances but OL showed their character as they secured a fourth league win in five matches. This time Cornet was the provider as his deep cross reached Reine-Adélaïde, who caught Sels by surprise as he headed home.
THE PLAYER: Jeff Reine-Adélaïde
Described by Garcia as OL's "technical leader" in the absence of Depay and Aouar, the former Angers midfielder popped up with his second goal in as many league games, one that could prove crucially important come the assessments at the end of the season.
THE STAT: 4
Strasbourg's winning home run ended at four Ligue 1 Conforama games.
