Payet replaces injured Fekir in France squad
Olympique de Marseille playmaker Dimitri Payet has been recalled to the France squad following injury to his Olympique Lyonnais counterpart Nabil Fekir in the 5-0 hiding away to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Injury forced Payet out of France boss Didier Deschamps' World Cup-winning squad, but now the 31-year-old is back in the fold following a recall in the wake of Fekir's month-long injury absence.
Fekir was forced off with an ankle injury in Sunday night's Ligue 1 Conforama Week 9 hammering in the capital, and subsequent examinations have revealed a sprain in his left ankle - which entails a one-month recovery period.
Thus Payet, who has four goals and five assists so far in the league campaign, will join the squad for the upcoming friendly against Iceland in Guingamp on Thursday, 11 October and the UEFA Nations League cash versus Germany at the Stade de France on Tuesday, 16 October.
France currently sit atop UEFA Nations League A, Group 1 with four points following a scoreless draw with Germany on Matchday 1 and a 2-1 win over the Netherlands on Matchday 2.
