Player of year Hazard chooses Manchester
Lille's Eden Hazard has been named Ligue 1 player of the year for the second season running. The Belgian star confirmed he'll play his football in Manchester next season, although didn't specify whether it would be for City or United.
Hazard's 17 goals and 15 assists saw him beat off competition from Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian star Nene and the Montpellier duo of Olivier Giroud and Younes Belhanda.
The 21-year-old said: "Is this my best season? In terms of stats, yes. But last season really wasn't bad as we won the double. I'm leaving French football on a good note individually but I would have preferred team success. That said, our goal was to qualify for the Champions League and we've done that."
Hazard's scintillating form helped LOSC claw their way back into the title race, although Rudi Garcia's side waved goodbye to their Ligue 1 crown when they succumbed 1-0 at Montpellier last Sunday. Next season Hazard will be gunning for top spot in England with either champions Manchester City or runners-up United.
He said: "I will be playing my football in Manchester and I've already said that. Will it be for the champions or the runners-up? That, I don't know. The decision will be taken soon."
Prizes for Belhanda and Girard
Belhanda, who scored 12 Ligue 1 goals this season, was named young player of the year, a prize won by Hazard in both 2009 and 2010. The Moroccan international also won a public vote for goal of the season, rewarded for his sumptuous volley against Marseille in Week 30.
Belhanda said: "I'm going to play in the Champions League for Montpellier. I cannot be sure of that but I hope to play it wiith Montpellier. There's a 60% chance of it happening."
There was more success for Montpellier as René Girard was named coach of the year ahead of Antoine Kombouaré (ex-PSG), Rudi Garcia (Lille) and Olivier Pantaloni (Ajaccio).
Lloris is keeper of the year
Goalkeeper of the year went to Lyon's Hugo Lloris despite OL only managing five clean sheets this season. France captain Lloris said: "I'm under contract with Lyon until 2015. There are questions I need to ask of myself and there will be discussions with the president and Rémi Garde in order to know where we're going, what the club's ambitions are. For now, the priority is Euro 2012."
Montpellier provided four of the season's best 11.
